What changes the offer

A wrecker prices a car on the parts it can resell and the metal left over. A popular model with parts in demand, or a car that still runs, will usually fetch more than one only worth its weight.

Be plain about the car on every call. An offer based on a better description than the real car is the one most likely to drop when the truck arrives.

Before the tow truck comes

Empty the glovebox, boot and door pockets, and take out any toll tag, parking permit or child seat. Check under the seats.

Keep a copy of the receipt and a photo of the car on the day it leaves, in case a question about it comes up later.
